One simple lesson I was taught growing up was to put others before yourself. I did not know the true meaning of this lesson until my recent travels to Zacapa, Guatemala. Sponsored by Athletic Therapeutic Institute Physical Therapy and Hearts in Motion, I joined four other students from across the country on a service learning trip to a country we knew little about, Guatemala. We had one mission in mind: provide those in need with exceptional physical therapy and medical services.

Join Us to Celebrate the Urban Education Program's 50th Anniversary
It's time to celebrate!
Westfield State University’s Urban Education Program (UEP) is coming up on its fiftieth anniversary, and we want to get this party started by holding our 50th Golden Anniversary celebration at 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 17 in the Scanlon Banquet Hall. It might seem like it's a bit early to make the announcement, but this gives us a good opportunity to talk about why the UEP is so vital for our students and the impact on the community.

Hikers in Stanley Park are benefiting from the trail mapping efforts of Chelsey Pousland ’17, a recent graduate of the University’s Geography and Regional Planning Program, known as GARP. Thanks to her efforts, the trails in the park’s Frank Stanley Beveridge Wildlife Sanctuary have been accurately mapped, with signs at points of entry and trail maps placed in kiosks throughout the several miles of trails, encompassing some 100 acres of the 200-acre sanctuary property.
